Talent is not just something you are born with, it needs nurturing. Blue Harvest Technologies is the gifted child of devoted parents and grandparents, with strong backgrounds in aquaculture and engineering.

In 2022 Lofoten Blue Harvest teamed up with Smart Seaweed Solutions to form Blue Harvest Technologies, a joint venture company. Smart Seaweed Solutions brought EnergyX with it to the partnership. They are the largest shareholder in Smart Seaweed Solutions, and a high tech player in the oil and gas industry. Lofoten Blue Harvest brought the experience from a decade of seaweed farming, and more than 4 decades of experience from fish farming through its owners.

The partnership made as much strategic sense as it did business sense, and there was no time wasted when the first project was rolled out in the fall of 2022. In 2023 the first prototype was produced and deployed at sea in Lofoten. In 2024 the prototype was expanded and tested in harvesting operation. With the proof of concept and patent pending, the next season will see further expansions and optimization of the system before it will be commercially ready for seaweed farmers all over the world.
